Full Job Description

At Bar Dough, we're passionate about handcrafted Italian cuisine, exceptional hospitality, and building a kitchen where talented chefs can thrive. Located in Denver's vibrant LoHi neighborhood, Bar Dough has earned a reputation as one of the city's premier Italian restaurants, celebrated for its handmade pastas, wood-fired cooking, seasonal Colorado ingredients, and commitment to craftsmanship.

We're looking for a Sous Chef who is passionate about cooking from scratch and leading by example. This is an opportunity to join a chef-driven kitchen where quality, consistency, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do. You'll work alongside an experienced leadership team and play a key role in executing a menu that has made Bar Dough one of Denver's favorite dining destinations.

Compensation: Base 68-78k, $200 medical contribution toward the company's major medical insurance plans, FLEX unlimited Time Off

PURPOSE

The Sous Chef will assist the Chef or Kitchen Manager (KM) in managing daily kitchen operations, help train kitchen staff, and prepare and coordinate the preparation of food ordered by guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist Chef or KM in training of kitchen and back-of-house staff.
Assess staff performance on an ongoing basis and report any performance issues to the Chef or KM.
Assist Chef or KM with employment actions, including discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Ensures that food, presentation, and plating are of the highest quality and are prepared safely, efficiently, and according to specifications or request.
Assure adherence to all standards of food quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation in conjunction with their specifications.
Ensures kitchen runs in accordance with all applicable health, safety, and hygiene codes and standards.
Monitors food and labor costs to remain within set goals.
Maintains and inspects kitchen equipment, recommending repairs or replacements as needed.
Assumes the role of Chef or KM in their absence.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Ability to produce an excellent culinary and restaurant experience for guests.
Ability to take direction and work collaboratively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent time management, scheduling, managerial, and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a variety of personalities and under pressure.
Understanding of financials and cost control.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

Relevant experience or training, which may be demonstrated via degree or certificate, completion of apprenticeship, or other experience necessary to become trained as a highly skilled professional chef.
2+ years of culinary managerial experience required.
Experience in training and development preferred.
Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
