Job Title: Lower School Office Assistant

Reports to: Lower School Office Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt | Hourly | 12 months

Employment Status: Full-time | 40 hours

Chattanooga Christian School (CCS) is a Christian, interdenominational, co-educational, day school nestled on 55+ acres at the foot of Lookout Mountain. CCS has been serving Christian families in the Chattanooga area since 1970 and currently enrolls 1,550+ students in the Lower School (Preschool -5), Middle School (6-8), and High School (9-12). Position Overview:

The Office Assistant creates and maintains a welcoming, efficient, and professional front office environment for the Lower School. This position supports the daily administrative operations of the Lower School by assisting with student records, attendance, family communication, office management, and student care. During the summer months, the Office Assistant also supports administrative operations and logistics for CCS Summer Programs. Through excellent customer service and organizational skills, this role contributes to the mission and daily success of Chattanooga Christian School.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Welcome students each morning and assist with daily dismissal procedures.
Answer Lower School telephone calls, greet visitors, respond to email inquiries, and provide exceptional customer service throughout the school year and during CCS Summer Programs.
Maintain visitor sign-in procedures and ensure adherence to campus security protocols.
Attend to student needs throughout the school day and during summer programs, including minor illnesses or injuries, late arrivals, and early dismissals.
Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and deliveries and manage outgoing mail.
Maintain inventory of office, classroom, and summer program supplies and place orders as needed.
Maintain accurate and confidential student files and records.
Record and monitor daily student attendance for all Lower School classes.
Ensure student health information is accurately maintained in August Schools.
Coordinate copier maintenance and troubleshoot routine office equipment issues.
Collaborate with Operations staff to address cleaning, maintenance, and facility needs within the Lower School.
Assist the Lower School Office Manager with school events and special projects as assigned.
Support the Director of Summer Camps during the operation of CCS Summer Programs.
Coordinate student dismissal logistics in partnership with the Extended Care Coordinator, Director of Summer Camps, coaches, and other program leaders.
Manage scheduling and reservations for the Lower School conference room and other shared meeting spaces as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student, family, and school information.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Lower School Office Manager or school administration.

Required Qualifications:

Personal faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Chattanooga Christian School.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in administrative support, office management, business operations, or a related field.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to positively represent Chattanooga Christian School and its mission.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Ability to exercise discretion and professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive information.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Google Workspace and other educational technology platforms.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and families.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a school environment.
Experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
Experience with student information systems and educational software platforms.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Requires vision to read small print.
Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend. Requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
The employee may need to physically support students with physical disabilities and should have no health issues which would prevent assisting a student getting in and out of a chair.
This is a role that requires sitting, standing and/or walking for the majority of the school day.
Is subject to normal inside and outside environmental conditions.
Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position.
