Operations & Business Development Manager

Company: Standard Truck and Trailer Sales, Inc.

Reports to: Director of Operations

Location: 4790 N. Cornelia Ave. Fresno, CA

I. Role Overview

Standard Truck and Trailer Sales is seeking a proactive, growth-minded Operations & Business Development Manager. This is a dual-focus role: you will lead the administrative, compliance, and safety functions of our 50-year-old agricultural trailer business while actively executing strategies to expand our fleet utilization, market share, and revenue.

You are the "bridge" between the shop floor and the front office—ensuring our mechanics have the parts they need, our fleet stays CA-compliant, and our customers receive world-class service.

II. Key Responsibilities

1. Business Growth & Marketing

Market Expansion: Proactively identify and pitch new rental accounts in the almond, pistachio, and wine grape industries.
Seasonal Strategy: Develop and execute "Early Bird" rental packages to secure fleet commitments before the May–August harvest peak.
Digital Presence: Manage the company’s Google Business Profile, website, and local SEO to ensure we are the #1 search result for trailer rentals in the region.
Direct Outreach: Maintain a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database to perform seasonal outbound sales calls and SMS reminders to past clients.

2. Operations & Compliance

Regulatory Oversight: Maintain 100% compliance with California State and Federal regulations (BIT inspections, DOT, and OSHA).
Inventory & Procurement: Manage the bid process for all shop materials and parts, negotiating with vendors to ensure maximum margins.
Fleet Management: Track trailer database with utilization and maintenance of each trailer; identify underperforming assets for retirement or replacement.
Customer Support: Act as a point of contact for rental contracts, billing inquiries, and off-site repair coordination.
Site Safety: Ensure Standard Truck and Trailer is in compliance with all site safety and our Injury Illness Prevention Program is up to date.

3. Personnel & Safety

Staffing: Track shop staffing requirements and lead the recruitment of new technicians.
Training: Oversee and document safety training, forklift certifications, and new-hire onboarding.
Collaboration: Work daily with the Shop Foreman to:
Schedule employees shift.
Prioritize repair schedules based on upcoming rental deadlines.
Create extensive off-site schedule coordination and preparation for off-site customer repairs.

III. Required Skills & Qualifications

Industry Experience: 5+ years of success in logistics, agricultural equipment, or heavy-duty trucking operations.
Technical Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word (Fleet Management Software experience is a plus).
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills for negotiating with vendors and pitching to large-scale growers.
Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with California trucking regulations and safety standards.
Attributes: High attention to detail, a "growth mindset," and the ability to work in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.

Schedule & Environment

Standard: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week.
Peak Season (May–August): Up to 60 hours per week and 8 Saturdays leading up to harvest to ensure customer success.
