Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team in St Helena, CA. The CVICU RN will provide specialized critical care to patients with complex cardiovascular conditions, including post-operative cardiac surgery, heart failure, arrhythmias, and other acute cardiac events. This role demands a dedicated professional capable of delivering exceptional patient-centered care within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in critical care settings, including ICU and emergency medicine, and demonstrate proficiency with advanced medical technologies and documentation systems.

Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing ventilators and infusion therapies.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, physiological monitoring, and diagnostic evaluations.
Collaborate with cardiologists and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
Perform advanced procedures such as IV insertion, catheterization care, suturing, and aseptic techniques in accordance with hospital protocols.
Manage complex cases involving acute pain management, trauma medicine, infectious disease care, and post-operative recovery.
Assist in triage assessments for incoming patients in urgent or emergency settings.
Maintain proficiency with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical documentation standards for accurate recordkeeping.

Experience

Minimum of two years of critical care experience in ICU or emergency room settings within a Level I or Level II trauma center preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in cardiac catheterization procedures, ventilator management, dialysis support, and acute pain management.
Prior experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is required.
Knowledge of advanced cardiovascular treatments including botulinum toxin treatment for specific conditions is advantageous.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge, physiology principles related to cardiac function, and the ability to perform physical examinations effectively.
