Full Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a polished, discreet, and detail-oriented Housekeeper to support a high-end private residence located in a luxury, full-service Manhattan building. This position requires prior experience working in luxury private homes where confidentiality, presentation, discretion, and household protocol are essential.

The ideal candidate is proactive, observant, and highly organized, with the ability to maintain consistent standards without requiring frequent direction. They should naturally notice and communicate anything requiring attention, including low household supplies, maintenance concerns, damage, repairs, or areas of the residence that need attention beyond the regular cleaning routine.

This is an active, occupied family residence. The Housekeeper must be comfortable working fluidly and unobtrusively around the family’s schedule and presence. The right candidate will be professional, warm, respectful, and confident operating in the background without disrupting the natural flow of the household.

Key Responsibilities

Perform detailed daily housekeeping throughout the residence to a five-star hotel standard.
Maintain bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, common areas, and other household spaces with exceptional attention to detail.
Manage laundry and linen care, including washing, drying, folding, ironing, steaming, and proper storage.
Carefully clean and maintain fine finishes, furniture, fabrics, fixtures, artwork, and personal belongings.
Complete deep-cleaning projects and specialty cleaning tasks as directed.
Prepare the residence for owner arrivals, guest stays, and special occasions.
Complete post-stay resets to ensure the home is fully restored and ready for continued use.
Monitor household supplies and promptly communicate when items need to be replenished.
Report maintenance concerns, damage, leaks, odors, appliance issues, or other unusual conditions through the appropriate household channel.
Follow established household systems, procedures, schedules, and service standards.
Coordinate with the existing household staff and provide support to the broader team as needed.
Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion regarding the family, residence, guests, and household operations.

Qualifications

Prior professional housekeeping experience in a luxury private residence is required.
Strong knowledge of high-end housekeeping practices, products, equipment, and cleaning techniques.
Experience caring for fine materials, delicate fabrics, luxury furnishings, and high-end finishes.
Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining consistently high standards.
Proactive, observant, and able to anticipate household needs without waiting for direction.
Organized, calm, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work respectfully and unobtrusively in an occupied residence.
Comfortable following established household protocols and reporting structures.
Professional presentation and demeanor at all times.
Willingness to sign and comply with a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
Weekend availability is a plus.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active position. The Housekeeper must be able to:

Stand and move continuously for extended periods.
Bend, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive household tasks.
Lift and carry household supplies, laundry, linens, and equipment.
Safely operate standard household cleaning equipment.
Perform detailed cleaning duties throughout the duration of the shift.

Additional Information

This position is based primarily at the family’s Manhattan residence. The ability to occasionally support a second property outside the city is considered a plus but is not required.

Candidates with a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are encouraged to include that information with their application.

This is a W-2 household employee position. Work hours, overtime, paid time off, sick time, holidays, and other applicable employment records will be administered through the household’s established HR and payroll processes.

Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
