Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Pediatric Operating Room (OR) care to join our dynamic surgical team. In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care to pediatric patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout their surgical journey. Your expertise will support a wide range of pediatric surgeries within a fast-paced, state-of-the-art facility committed to excellence in patient care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young patients and their families while working alongside a collaborative healthcare team.

Duties

Prepare pediatric patients for surgery by conducting comprehensive assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and physical examinations.
Administer medications, including anesthesia and sedation, following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
Monitor patients continuously during surgical procedures, managing airway, ventilator support, and vital signs with precision.
Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures such as suturing, catheterization, and other operative tasks requiring advanced technical skills.
Ensure strict adherence to infection control standards and maintain sterile environments throughout all procedures.
Document all patient care activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), including medication administration, assessments, and procedural notes.
Provide post-operative care by evaluating recovery status, managing pain with acute pain management protocols, and educating families on post-surgical care plans.

Requirements

Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice.
Proven experience working in pediatric surgery or pediatric intensive care units (PICU), OR experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care procedures.
Proficiency with electronic health record systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with EMR/EHR management is highly desirable.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Ability to perform IV insertion, venipuncture, catheter care, and specimen collection efficiently.
Experience working with children of various ages and understanding developmental disabilities is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient and family education.
