POMFRET PUBLIC SCHOOLS

POMFRET, CONNECTICUT

ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION

POSITION: Board of Education Recording Secretary

Regular Monthly and Special Board of Education Meetings

Year Round Position

RESPONSIBILITIES: Attend all regular, and special meetings of the Board of Education as assigned.

Record, prepare, and distribute accurate, concise, and impartial minutes of Board meetings in a timely manner.

Ensure Board meeting minutes are prepared and distributed in accordance with applicable state laws and district policies.

Assist with the organization and retention of Board records in accordance with state records retention requirements.

Maintain attendance records and documentation of Board actions.

Perform other duties related to Board operations as assigned by the Superintendent or Board Chairperson.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred

Previous experience providing administrative support to a governing board, municipal agency, or executive office preferred

Working knowledge of/familiarity with Robert's Rules of Order/parliamentary procedure, with the ability to accurately document motions, amendments, votes, and Board actions

Familiarity with Open Meeting requirements

Availability to attend evening Board meetings and occasional special meetings

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Thorough knowledge of office administration and recordkeeping practices.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with Board members, district administrators, staff, and the public

Excellent written, proofreading, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

Strong computer proficiency, including electronic document management systems

Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

Ability to produce accurate work under time-sensitive conditions.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools and the Chairperson of the Board of Education

SALARY: $140 per meeting, including minutes
