Full Job Description

Job Description:

Cats

Complete daily duties including feeding the cats, administering medications, cleaning enclosures, laundering cat bedding, toys and dishes and cleaning and organizing the cat areas of the shelter.
Monitor the general health and welfare of all CTSPCA cats through direct observation or by reported observation from employees and volunteers. All animals should be clean, well-fed, disease free and provided adequate kennel conditions. Ongoing habitat designation should be designed to minimize spread of disease and animal stress.

Dogs

Complete daily duties including feeding the dogs, administering medications, moving dogs to and from outdoor kennels, cleaning indoor and outdoor kennels, laundering dog bedding, toys and dishes and cleaning and organizing the dog areas of the shelter.
Monitor the general health and welfare of all CTSPCA dogs through direct observation or by reported observation from employees and volunteers. All animals should be clean, well-fed, disease free and provided adequate kennel conditions. Ongoing habitat designation should be designed to minimize spread of disease and animal stress.

Requirements:

At least 3 months basic experience in handling and caring for cats and dogs.
Veterinary technician skills such as administering topical and oral medications, and the ability to perform vaccinations, blood draws and deworming is highly desirable but not required.
Clear verbal and written communication skills with specific emphasis on animal medical and behavioral documentation.
Ability to self-direct, prioritize and time manage multiple responsibilities with attention to detail.
Timeliness with a high degree of dependability.
Must be able to be on feet (standing/walking) for entire shift. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs periodically and 10-15 lbs regularly. Must be able to stoop, reach, lift, and squat.
Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. (cat care technician) + 1 day per week as a dog care technician (shifts vary)
