Full Job Description

Southern Oregon Cardiology is seeking a thoughtful, dependable Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our outpatient clinical team.

Our nurses play an essential role in helping patients understand and manage complex cardiovascular conditions. This position is well suited for a nurse who combines strong clinical judgment with compassion, clear communication, careful follow-through, and a genuine commitment to teamwork.

You will work closely with cardiologists, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and other clinical professionals to coordinate care, respond to patient needs, provide education, and support a safe and efficient patient experience.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will:

Assess patient needs and changes in condition within the scope of your nursing license.
Triage patient calls, complete timely callbacks, and appropriately escalate clinical concerns.
Administer medications and injections in accordance with provider orders and established protocols.
Coordinate treatment plans, diagnostic testing, medication refills, results communication, and follow-up care.
Monitor patients receiving higher-risk therapies, including Coumadin and Amiodarone, as directed by protocol or provider instruction.
Educate patients and families about cardiovascular conditions, medications, procedures, lifestyle changes, and self-care.
Help patients understand and successfully follow their care instructions and treatment plans.
Complete accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in Epic.
Manage In Basket messages, orders, patient communication, and other electronic clinical workflows.
Participate in team huddles, quality-improvement efforts, and workflow development.
Support medical assistants and other team members with patient flow, orientation, training, and clinical guidance as appropriate.
Protect patient confidentiality and consistently follow HIPAA, safety, clinical, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities will be assigned in accordance with the employee’s qualifications, experience, licensure, training, and permitted scope of practice. The specific assessment and triage responsibilities of an RN and LPN may differ.

What You Bring

Required

Current, unrestricted Oregon license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing.
Current BLS certification.
Strong clinical judgment, organization, and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize competing needs in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
Clear and compassionate verbal and written communication.
Ability to work independently while following established protocols and seeking guidance when appropriate.
Commitment to professionalism, accountability, confidentiality, and respectful teamwork.
Consistent and accurate use of electronic health records and digital communication systems.

Preferred

At least one year of nursing experience in cardiology, ambulatory care, or another related clinical setting.
Knowledge of cardiovascular conditions, medications, diagnostics, and care protocols.
Experience with Epic, including documentation, In Basket management, order processing, and patient communication workflows.
Specialty certification in Cardiac-Vascular Nursing (CV-BC), Ambulatory Care Nursing (AMB-BC), or another nursing specialty relevant to the position.
