Full Job Description

The Utility Operator is an entry-level position responsible for supporting production operations within the injection molding department. This role focuses on material handling, basic machine support, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. It is designed as a steppingstone into more technical roles, such as Injection Mold Setter, by building foundational mechanical knowledge and hands-on manufacturing experience.Key Responsibilities

Provide general support to production and molding operations
Supply machines with raw materials and remove finished product as needed
Assist with basic machine operations under direction of setters or technicians
Perform material handling duties, including staging, moving, and storing materials properly
Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and production floor (5S standards)
Assist with mold changeovers by gathering tools and preparing equipment
Perform basic visual quality checks and notify team members of any defects
Support regrind, scrap handling, and material segregation processes
Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and reporting hazards
Assist with inventory organization and proper storage of materials and tooling
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience is a plus, but not required
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
Strong work ethic and reliability
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels

Work Environment

Manufacturing production floor
Exposure to moving machinery and equipment
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
