Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Bookkeeper specializing in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) within the construction industry. In this role, you will manage financial transactions, ensure accurate record-keeping, and support the overall financial health of our organization. Your expertise in various accounting software and systems will be instrumental in maintaining compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and supporting our project accounting needs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic construction environment while honing your skills in corporate and governmental accounting practices.

Responsibilities

Process and verify accounts payable invoices, ensuring timely payments and accurate coding using software such as QuickBooks, Builder Trend, Oracle, Procore, or similar financial systems
Manage accounts receivable by invoicing clients, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts to maintain healthy cash flow
Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations to ensure accuracy across all financial records
Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, to record financial transactions in accordance with GAAP standards
Assist with payroll processing by entering data accurately and ensuring compliance with tax regulations and payroll laws
Conduct account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation to support month-end closing procedures
Maintain detailed documentation of all financial activities, including audit trails for governmental or non-profit accounting requirements

Requirements

Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within the construction or related industries
Strong proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or Quicken; familiarity with multiple platforms is preferred
Solid understanding of accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, GAAP standards, and financial concepts
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, payroll processing, and general ledger management, lien waivers.
Knowledge of governmental or non-profit accounting practices is a plus
Ability to perform 10-key typing efficiently for data entry tasks
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Good communication skills for preparing financial reports and collaborating with team members
