JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Accounting Clerk plays an essential role in the County’s financial operations. This position is responsible for advanced accounting, payroll, and financial record-keeping duties. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across departments, provide excellent internal customer service, and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of the County’s fiscal systems. You will work independently and collaboratively with a committed team dedicated to excellence in public service.
Position Summary:
Under minimum supervision, is responsible for specialized clerical work involving the application of basic accounting principles and a variety of financial records; and performs related work as required.
Essential Job Functions & Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs the posting, checking and reconciliations of the Accounts Payable transactions to subsidiary and general ledgers; including but not limited to review all requisitions for completeness and accuracy, monitor purchases for procurement compliance, approve all purchase orders
- Process all Jury duty warrants for the Superior Court
- Accurately upload Positive Pay to the bank for all warrants
- Assist the Credit Card administration
- Assist and train credit card holders on policy and procedures
- Process receipts of funds for various departments and deposit to the treasurer
- Process warrants for payments to vendors and general reports to management for cash out flows
- Assist with Procurement
- Collect data and perform quarterly reports
- Performs year-end reporting
- Approve journal entries and report the cash entries to the Treasurer
- Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
- Provide support to auditors
- Maintain all vendor information
- Audit account codes to assure compliance with policy and procedures
- Provide accounts payable and requisition training to departments
- Coach and assist Accounting Clerk I with day-to-day actives
- Considerable knowledge of accounting principles, methods and practices
- Knowledge of office procedures
- Knowledge of laws, ordinances and government regulations for County and School finance
- Ability to apply accounting principles in the maintenance of control records and the
preparation of financial statements
- Ability to prepare accurate financial reports from accounting data knowledge of
various office machines including, but not limited to, computers and calculators
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate
- Two (2) years’ experience in bookkeeping or closely related work
- Combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to do the work
