Full Job Description

Holiday Inn Austin Town Lake is looking for a skilled, hands-on Chief Engineer to oversee all aspects of hotel maintenance and engineering operations. This leadership role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, leading a team, and taking pride in maintaining a safe, efficient, and welcoming hotel.

Our full-service hotel features 323 guest rooms, meeting and event space, food and beverage outlets, and an outdoor rooftop pool. We are seeking a leader who can ensure our property remains in excellent condition while delivering outstanding service to our guests.

What You'll Do:

As Chief Engineer, you will oversee the daily operation of the Engineering Department while working alongside your team to complete repairs and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities include:

Lead, coach, schedule, and develop the Engineering/Maintenance team.
Maintain a safe environment for guests and employees through effective maintenance and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards and hotel operating procedures.
Oversee preventive maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, meeting spaces, rooftop pool equipment, and all building systems.
Perform and assist with repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
Respond quickly to maintenance emergencies and guest service requests.
Manage work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records.
Order parts, equipment, and supplies while controlling maintenance expenses.
Coordinate contractors and vendors as needed.
Oversee Fire & Life Safety, Loss Prevention, and emergency preparedness programs.
Help maintain the appearance, functionality, and value of the property.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

Previous experience as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, or Engineering Supervisor in a hotel or commercial property.
Strong working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and general building maintenance.
EPA Level III Certification.
HVAC/Refrigeration Certification.
Ability to diagnose and repair a variety of building systems.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and on-call emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a full-service hotel.
Experience with IHG or other major hotel brands.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance software or work order management systems.
Experience managing departmental budgets and capital improvement projects.

Physical Requirements

Lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequently walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work indoors and outdoors.
Respond to emergency maintenance situations throughout the property.
