Assignment Overview

Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs
Hours: 36 hrs/wk

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring float coverage across a 4-campus health system and at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience.

Details

Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a multi-campus hospital system
13-week assignment on night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30
Float required to all North Campus locations including Redmond, Prineville, and Madras, each with different shift times
Float coverage includes any med/surg unit within the system and 1:1 observer roles in any clinical department
May be assigned to the ED to care for boarding med/surg patients
Weekend shifts required to equal one per week of the contract, which may be every other weekend or spread across weekends
No scheduled on-call shifts, though standby status may be required
Patient population includes COPD, stroke, total joint, sepsis, colorectal surgery, bariatric surgery, pneumonia, trauma, altered mental status, renal failure, bowel obstruction, oncology, and withdrawal cases
Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

Active RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand
Current BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
Level II Trauma Center experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
Prior travel nursing experience required, though candidates with 3-5 years of experience may be considered as first-time travelers
Teaching hospital experience preferred
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration required
Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration required
Experience managing oncology, GI, GU/renal, and neurological/psychiatric patient needs required
Knowledge of wound care, cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response protocols required
No employment gaps greater than 30 days within required work history
Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager

Additional Information

Provide direct patient care to a diverse Med/Surg population with complex medical and surgical needs
Serve as primary RN in med/surg departments or as a 1:1 observer across various clinical units as needed
Facility includes a Level 2 trauma center at the main campus and critical access hospitals at satellite campuses
Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate; proof of address required
RTO restricted to 7 days during the contract period
Candidates who cancel an assignment with less than 14 days' notice will be designated as Do Not Return within the system
First-time travelers considered only with 3-5 years of relevant experience
Orientation includes completion of facility-required modules, renewed annually
