Front Desk / Patient Services Representative

Athens Eye Doctors & Surgeons, LLC

Position Summary

The Front Desk Representative plays a key role as the first point of contact for patients in our ophthalmology practice. This position is responsible for greeting patients, coordinating check-in and check-out procedures, managing phone calls, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Greet and check in patients in a courteous, professional manner
Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information in the EMR system
Collect co-pays, balances, and other payments at check-in or check-out
Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments efficiently
Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and route calls to appropriate staff
Prepare and manage daily schedules for physicians and technicians
Assist with new patient registration and maintain accurate records
Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, and medical record requests as needed
Ensure smooth patient flow between front office and clinical staff
Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Assist with administrative and clerical duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework preferred
Prior experience in a medical or ophthalmology office strongly preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and EMR systems (NextGen or similar) desirable
Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
Professional appearance and demeanor
Must be willing to submit to a thorough background check and drug screen.

Work Schedule

Full-time
Monday - Thursday 8-5
Friday 8-12
