Villa Marin is a nonprofit Continuing Care Retirement Community located in San Rafael, California. Our community offers independent living and supportive services designed to meet residents' changing needs. Residents take pride in their community and actively participate in decisions that help shape life at Villa Marin.

We are looking for friendly, reliable, and service-oriented individuals who enjoy working with people and want to help make Villa Marin a great place to live and work.

JOB SUMMARY

Villa Marin is currently seeking an experienced Full-Time Line Cook to join our Culinary Services team. The Line Cook assists with daily food production and prepares a variety of menu items for our residents and guests while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and sanitation.

The ideal candidate has solid experience working in a professional kitchen, is comfortable working independently, and can accurately read and follow recipes. We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, and committed to consistently preparing high-quality meals.

SCHEDULE & PAY

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 per hour
Schedule: 10:30 AM–7:00 PM
Shifts may include weekends and holidays as needed

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Assist the Sous Chef and Lead Cook with daily food production.
Prepare and cook vegetables, starches, and other menu items according to established recipes.
Read and accurately follow recipes and preparation instructions.
Prepare sauces, dressings, garnishes, stocks, and other food items as needed.
Assist with food preparation and plating for meal service.
Assist with special events and catering functions as needed.
Support meal and tray preparation for Health Services as assigned.
Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areas.
Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and kitchen safety procedures.
Properly use and maintain commercial kitchen equipment.
Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food and supplies as needed.
Assist with inventory as assigned.
Perform additional food preparation and Culinary Services duties as needed.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Solid experience working in a commercial or professional kitchen.
Strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
Ability to read, understand, and accurately follow recipes.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, as needed to perform the position.
Ability to work independently and maintain consistency in food preparation.
Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and its safe operation.
Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices.
Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain an organized work area.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a Culinary Services team.

REQUIREMENTS
