Shop Craftsman & Finisher

New Antiquity | Woodbury CT

About New Antiquity New Antiquity is a design-build firm specializing in bespoke millwork, metalwork, and furniture. We are a team of creative, self-actualizing individuals working in a fast-paced, inclusive environment that marries traditional craft with modern innovation. We are committed to building a small, collaborative team of craftspeople dedicated to producing work of the highest standards in the industry.

The Role We are seeking a specialized cabinet Finisher with a background specifically in high-end cabinet finishing and architectural millwork. This role requires an eye for detail and the ability to systematically manage projects from final sanding through to the final coat with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Precision Finishing: Execute expert-level final sanding, wood preparation, and spray finishing (specifically utilizing water-borne systems).
Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret detailed architectural drawings, shop drawings, and complex schematics.
Quality Control: Ensure all pieces meet "white-glove" industry standards for finish, feel, and durability.
Collaboration: Work alongside our fabrication team to ensure seamless transitions from build to finish.

Required Experience & Skills

Specialized Background: Minimum 3 years of experience specifically within a dedicated millwork or cabinet shop environment.
Proven Precision: Demonstrated ability to execute fine woodworking finishes (stains, paints, and clear coats) on complex surfaces.
Tool Mastery: Expert knowledge of shop-specific machinery (sanders, HVLP systems, etc.) and their safe application.
Physical Requirements: Ability to maintain the stamina required for shop work and handle materials safely.

A Note on Experience While we value all trades, this is a fine-finishing and shop-based role. Experience in general residential construction, framing, or general contracting does not meet the technical requirements for this specific position. We are looking for candidates whose primary background is in precision shop-craft.
