Full Job Description

The Hilton Garden Inn Detroit/Southfield is currently looking for an experienced General Manager to lead this 194 room full service property featuring just over 5,600 sq ft of meeting space as well as Restaurant and Bar. Responsibilities include supervising the Front Desk, Sales, Housekeeping, Engineering an Food & Beverage departments to ensure total guest satisfaction. Provide guidance and direction to all associates to ensure they are adhering to all hotel policies, standards, procedures and regulations. Knowledge of Restaurant and Banquet Operations, as well as the ability to perform all front office and housekeeping functions both quickly and efficiently along with functioning as a technical department resource and providing training to new hires. This is a hands-on position that reports to our Regional Franchise Operations Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

-Control hotel costs including payroll, utilities and supplies for all departments to ensure property stays on budget.

-Creating annual Budget.

-Manage the human resources in the hotel in order to attract, retain and motivate the team members; train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve issues, provide open communication vehicles, discipline and terminate, as appropriate.

· Implement company programs (Franchise) and manage the operations of the department in a manner consistent with federal and state laws and regulations and company policies and procedures to ensure a high level of quality and customer satisfaction by exceeding expectations.

· Resolve customer complaints as appropriate to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality.

· Attend weekly staff meetings and sales strategy meetings when needed.

· Monitor all guest service standards, constantly seeking ways to improve product and service as well as increase volumes and profits.

· Ensure all policies and procedures are in place and adhered to.

· Ensure that all team members are trained on technical and service aspects of their position.

· Ensure that plans and actions to meet departmental goals are communicated, understood, and met by managers, supervisors, and hourly associates.

Additional Requirements:

· 5+ years of hotel management experience (Hilton preferred)

· Must be able to organize and prioritize daily work; monitor progress against schedule and business demands; manage own time and time of the department.

· Must be able to express facts, ideas, and messages to others in a clear, concise, and organized manner that is easily understood.

· Must be able to make decisions with only general policies and procedures available for guidance.

· Must be able to anticipate the needs of guests and team members; display an open, friendly, courteous, and approachable demeanor to guests and team members; proactively engage guests and team members to provide quality service; maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude toward guest service.

· Major Brand Experience (preferred)

· PEP, Micros and Delphi operating skills (preferred)

· Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays and non-traditional hours as required by the demands of the business, hotel, associates and guests. Participation in the hotel Manager on Duty program is also required
