Full Job Description

Preschool Lead Teacher Position

Congregation Emanu-El Preschool is hiring an experienced Early Childhood Educator for a classroom position beginning this summer and into the upcoming school year.

In this role, you will co-lead a classroom of 12 students alongside another lead teacher, with additional support staff as needed. Responsibilities include daily curriculum planning, parent communication, and documentation. You’ll collaborate closely with a supportive team, including a Two's Coordinator, Pedagogical Coordinator, and ECE Director, to ensure an exceptional experience for every child.

Position Details

Hours: 33 - 40 hours / week
Schedule: 8:30 am - 3 pm + some flexible prep / planning time
Curriculum development, parent communication, and conference writing required as part of the core responsibilities

Classroom Lead Teacher Responsibilities

Maintain and implement procedures compliant with California Community Care Licensing standards to ensure health and safety.
Develop and implement inquiry-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum in partnership with co-teacher and Pedagogical Coordinator.
Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers regarding student progress and milestones.
Document developmental growth and curricular updates for each child and classroom.
Collaborate with specialists and administrative team for enrichment programming and differentiation strategies.
Share in classroom housekeeping responsibilities.
Set and work toward annual professional growth goals.
Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.
Foster positive, professional communication with children, staff, parents, and consultants.
Mentor aides and assistant teachers, providing clear direction and feedback.
Maintain confidentiality and professional standards.
Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
Physical Requirements: Ability to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 60 lbs.

Desired Qualifications

Strong verbal and written communication skills
Degree in ECE, Child Development, or related field
Teaching and classroom experience
