As a Veterinary Assistant or Technician with Purradise Cat Care, you will assist the veterinarians and Animal Care Specialists (Veterinary Technicians) with patient care and treatment, monitor hospitalized cats, maintain inventory, prepare prescriptions, perform routine in-house laboratory work, perform routine housekeeping tasks, and educate clients regarding veterinary care and procedures.

The Mindset Required: Obsessive Attention to Detail
You don't need to be a walking veterinary textbook on day one, but you must have an uncompromising eye for detail. Feline medicine leaves zero room for careless mistakes. Whether you are dealing with pharmaceuticals or hospital sanitation, accuracy is everything.

In this role, you will be expected to learn and handle:

Pharmaceutical Safety: Correctly preparing prescriptions and calculating dosages. A misplaced decimal point or a misread label is a life-or-death matter for a cat.
Disease & Isolation Protocols: Understanding common feline diseases, symptoms, and how they spread. You must be meticulous about cross-contamination—missing a single sanitizing step can put the whole clinic at risk.
Preventative Care Education: Learning the ins and outs of our wellness and vaccine recommendations so you can accurately educate clients.
We can teach you the science, but we cannot teach you to care about the details. If you are someone who double-checks your work, follows instructions to the letter, and notices the little things others miss, you will thrive here. If you tend to rush or overlook small details, this environment will not be a good fit.

We are going to be upfront: we are a busy specialty hospital operating on a skeleton crew right now, which means we do not have the bandwidth for hand-holding, micromanagement, or one-on-one coaching.

The ideal person for this role brings a specific mix of sharp initiative and deep respect for the team:

An On-the-Job Learner: Your training will happen in real-time, on the floor. You need to be highly observant, absorb information quickly by watching, and learn as you go. The more self-driven initiative you have to look things up and study clinic protocols on your own time, the faster you will succeed.
A "Sponge" Who Can Prioritize: Asking questions is good, but asking the same question repeatedly or pausing a busy workflow to ask questions that could be figured out through observation isn't sustainable here. You need to be able to pay attention, read the room, and take notes.
Respect for the Hierarchy & Protocol: Feline medicine leaves zero room for error. We have strict clinic protocols for a reason—to keep patients alive and staff safe. We need someone who respects the chain of command, follows instructions to the letter, and understands their current boundaries. There is a fine line between taking initiative and overstepping; you must know how to stay firmly on the right side of it.
