Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Pre op/ PACU/ Clinical Nurse to join our vibrant Plastic Surgery Center team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional preoperative assessments, monitor patients during their recovery in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and deliver comprehensive clinical care tailored to aesthetic and reconstructive procedures. Your expertise will ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes throughout their surgical journey. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where compassionate patient care and clinical excellence are at the forefront.

Registered Nurse – Pre-Op / PACU / ClinicalPosition Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient care across the perioperative continuum including pre-operative assessment and preparation, post-anesthesia recovery (PACU), clinical nursing care, and post-operative follow-up.

The RN supports daily clinical and surgical operations by delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care in accordance with federal, state, and accreditation standards, as well as facility policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current Hawaii Registered Nurse license
BLS and ACLS certification required
Minimum two (2) years perioperative, PACU, or ambulatory surgery experience preferred
Knowledge of AAAHC and regulatory standards preferred

Primary ResponsibilitiesPre-Operative Care

Performs pre-operative assessments and prepares patients for surgery.
Reviews medical history, medications, labs, and clearances.
Provides patient education and verifies surgical readiness.
Initiates IV access and administers medications as ordered.

PACU / Recovery Care

Monitors patients recovering from anesthesia.
Assesses airway, vital signs, pain, and recovery status.
Manages postoperative complications including pain and nausea.
Determines discharge readiness and provides discharge instructions.

Clinical & Post-Operative Nursing

Performs pre-operative assessments, teaching and evaluations.
Performs post-operative evaluations in clinic and via phone triage.
Provides wound care assessment and recovery guidance.
Coordinates care with physicians, anesthesia providers, and staff.
Documents care accurately in the medical record.

Patient Care & Operations

Administers medications and assists with procedures within RN scope.
Maintains a safe, clean, and organized patient care environment.
Supports daily Pre-Op/PACU workflow and patient throughput.
Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Quality & Compliance

Adheres to patient safety and infection control standards.
Participates in quality improvement and accreditation readiness activities.
Maintains HIPAA compliance and professional nursing standards.

Skills & Competencies

Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Effective communication and patient education abilities
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients in a surgical setting
Knowledge of perioperative monitoring equipment and recovery care

Working Environment

Clinic and ambulatory surgery center settings
Exposure to blood and body fluids (Category I)
