Overview

This is a 32 hour part time position. Hours 9am-5pm Monday-Thursday

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Receptionist, where your energetic and organized approach will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors. In this vital role, you'll manage front desk operations, coordinate patient appointments, and ensure smooth communication between patients and medical staff. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment while maintaining efficient office workflows. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality patient care and streamline administrative processes in a fast-paced medical setting.

Duties

Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service with professional phone etiquette and clear communication.
Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
Verify patient insurance details, process medical billing and collections, and handle health insurance inquiries with thorough knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
Manage electronic health records (EHR), ensuring proper documentation review, data entry, and secure handling of sensitive medical records in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 coding for accurate billing and care plan documentation.
Maintain office organization by managing phone communication, appointment reminders, and clerical support such as typing reports and updating medical records.
Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans, reviewing documentation, and ensuring all administrative tasks are completed efficiently.

Requirements

Proven experience in a medical office or healthcare environment with strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
Familiarity with medical billing, collection processes, health insurance procedures, and Medicare guidelines.
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and documentation review practices.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and 10-key typing for accurate data entry.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy clinic setting while maintaining attention to detail.
Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Prior clinic experience or healthcare administrative support is preferred; familiarity with health information management is a plus.
Ability to uphold clinical confidentiality policies while providing outstanding patient service through professional phone communication and front desk management.
Demonstrated office experience with clerical tasks such as scheduling, filing, and managing electronic health records confidently.
