Full Job Description

Counseling Connections in conjunction with Connections Organization Schools is seeking a full-time therapist for a hybrid therapist position that is split between our outpatient Private Practice in Libertyville (50%), and a Therapeutic Day School (50%). This is a wonderfully unique opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team at both our private practice and the therapeutic day school clinical teams. This hybrid position offers paid built-in supervision and training opportunities, dynamic work schedule and environment competitive salary and benefits, and guaranteed salaried hours. The half time at the schools is guaranteed in-person day hours Monday-Friday and follows a school holiday schedule. The half time at the private practice offers flexibility of scheduling and service delivery with both in-person and virtual options.

Counseling Connections has a long standing history of clinical and psychiatric services and continues to be a dynamic interdisciplinary outpatient private practice that primarily serves clients in northeast Illinois and southern Wisconsin regions. Counseling Connections is affiliated with five therapeutic day schools with locations in Libertyville, Lake Forest and Palatine. Our collaborative teams include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and professional counselors who work alongside our educators and related service professionals at the therapeutic day school locations. Our practice focuses primarily on providing the highest level of care with medication management; individual, group and family therapy; and psychological assessment for children, adolescents, and young adults. In addition, we provide free weekly individual supervision from licensed mental health professionals to aid in meeting supervision hours required to attain various licenses (LCPC, LMFT, LCSW,LCP), as well as provide ongoing professional development.

Our mission is to promote excellent services for our clients while providing a collaborative environment for our providers to continue their professional growth. We offer group provider professional development meetings weekly and provider mentorship and supervision to those providers looking to enhance their skills. Our administrative staff support our professional providers so you can focus on providing the best possible services for our clients. We foster a team based collaborative atmosphere where our staff can rely on each other as professionals in a wide variety of fields of expertise.

In addition to our highly competitive pay, our long standing service to the community assists in building our full client caseloads. Our administrative staff manages intakes, billing and scheduling while negotiating higher rates with insurance companies, ensuring our clients receive needed services.

Our Therapeutic Day School sites utilize educational, therapeutic, family and community connections to promote academic achievement and social emotional growth. Our multidisciplinary staff is fully committed to helping each student make progress and develop the skills necessary to succeed within the school and community settings. The therapeutic day school environment is based on a positive nurturing model where “natural consequences” for behaviors are frequently utilized. In addition, a team of related service specialists including clinical therapists, art therapists, music therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, full-time nurses, and consulting psychiatrists provide a natural environment where the students are more able to generalize newly acquired skills and apply directly in the therapeutic day milieu, at home and in the community.

The position requires the candidate to have a Master’s or Doctorate Degree within Social Worker, Counseling, Clinical Psychology or School Psychology and have at least an entry level license in their field such as: LPC/LCPC/MSW/LCSW/LCP.

Duties include:

Provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients in the Therapeutic Day School site and Counseling Connections Private Practice setting
Promote an environment of collaboration, inclusion and belonging for all clients, staff and families
Maintain clinical files: treatment plans, diagnosis, clinical goals, progress notes, etc
Attend weekly individual supervision at Counseling Connections Private Practice
Participate in weekly group supervision and clinical needs didactic trainings at the Therapeutic Day School site
Assist multidisciplinary team in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) of clients on caseload at the Therapeutic Day School site
Present therapeutic summaries and treatment goal progress in progress meetings including IEPs, etc at the Therapeutic Day School site
Lead case presentations on a rotating schedule at both locations
Collaborate and consult regularly with members of multidisciplinary teams (education and clinical) and community providers to increase positive treatment outcomes for clients
Other duties include: crisis management, risk assessment, therapeutic goal creation and monitoring, and team meetings
