Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will manage a wide range of accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across financial operations. Your expertise will support our organization’s financial health by maintaining precise records, reconciling accounts, and preparing essential reports. Duties

Manage daily bookkeeping activities, including data entry, accounts payable and receivable processing, and invoice management using software such as QuickBooks,
Perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger accounting to ensure financial accuracy
Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end closing processes in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Support payroll management using systems like ADP or UltiPro, ensuring timely and accurate employee payments
Conduct account analysis, review financial statements, and assist with budgeting and financial reporting tasks
Handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining strict data security protocols
Assist with internal audits and ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and governmental accounting standards
Utilize Excel for data analysis, spreadsheet management, and detailed financial reporting to support decision-making processes

Requirements

Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles within corporate or governmental environments
Strong knowledge of accounting principles such as GAAP and experience with technical accounting practices
Familiarity with various financial software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Workday, Ceridian, Kronos, UltiPro, Paychex, ADP or similar platforms
Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, journal entries, balance sheet analysis and double-entry bookkeeping
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel for data analysis and spreadsheet management
Excellent numeracy skills coupled with strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining confidentiality
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
Experience with public accounting or non-profit accounting is a plus but not required
Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and SOX compliance is highly desirable
