CASA Advocate Supervisor

Position Announcement & Description

Douglas County CASA is searching for a dedicated CASA Advocate Supervisor to support our organization in recruiting, screening, and training, and supporting volunteers as we endeavor to increase our capacity to serve every child in Douglas County, Kansas who needs a CASA.

This position exists to motivate, empower, guide, support, and supervise CASA volunteers as they advocate for the best interest of children in protective care due to abuse and neglect. This position works closely and most often with other CASA Advocate Supervisors on staff. However, we function as a whole team, so this position will work with the Executive Director, Program Director, Development Director, and Community Engagement Coordinator as we work to increase awareness of our agency through the community and maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders via our website, social media, email, and in-person events.

We wish to hire one full-time person; however, we will consider hiring someone part-time based on applications received.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Make volunteer assignments to cases on behalf of the Executive Director
Maintain a minimum at least once monthly contact with each volunteer
Provide feedback to CASA volunteers regarding their ongoing development and comfort with their role
Consult with CASA volunteers regarding avoidance of conflicts of interest and boundary setting and maintaining
Provide assistance and consultation as needed and when requested by the CASA volunteer
Assist volunteers in editing reports to the court
Consult with Department of Children and Families (DCF) and/or DCF contractors such as KVC, regarding child and family needs and volunteer assignments and case priorities
Complete annual evaluations for all volunteers
Report to the Program Director on volunteer performance
Keep case and volunteer files up to date and complete
Enter case and volunteer data into database
Keep current schedule of upcoming court report due dates, upcoming court dates, upcoming case plan due dates, and upcoming case plan meetings
Maintain up-to-date, accurate, and complete volunteer work and performance records
Attend court hearings, case plans and other meetings
When appropriate, refer clients for Crime Victim Services[IH2.1][EV2.2]
Assist with all agency and volunteer appreciation events
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

DESIRED QUALIFCATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required in social service-related field and/or three years’ experience in the child welfare system, social services, or volunteer coordination/supervision or equivalent experience
Ability to communicate with, supervise and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles
Ability to build community awareness and network with other community agencies.
Ability to speak publicly
Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crisis relating to child abuse and neglect
Ability to advocate strongly and professionally on behalf of clients in conflictual situations and to work resourcefully and independently to identify and seek out needed information and resolutions.
Ability to utilize a variety of computer software packages such as Word, Excel, and case and volunteer management databases.

HOURS:

Full-time position, exempt, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with flexible hours working some evenings and weekends due to providing support to volunteers who are working with children in the child welfare system.

COMPENSATION, REIMBURSEMENT & BENEFITS

$43,000 – $60,000 depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
Optional Health Insurance (Medical, Dental, Vision): Employees working at least 30 hours per week; Douglas County CASA pays 100% of the employee’s premium and 40% of family member premiums.
Optional Wellness Reimbursement/Stipend: $130/month reimbursement or stipend to support an employee’s Wellness Plan.
Monthly Cell phone/Internet Reimbursement: $45/month to reimburse employees for use of personal cell phone and home internet.
Optional SIMPLE IRA Match: Douglas County CASA matches up to 3% of an employee’s gross compensation to the agency’s SIMPLE IRA plan.
Paid Time Off

- Holidays10-13 paid scheduled holidays annually, and one discretionary day.

- Discretionary Day: One additional discretionary day is available per year.

- PTO Accrued at 16 hours each month (equivalent of 24 days per year).
