Full Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, results-driven National Account Sales Manager to lead and grow relationships with medium and large-scale retailers in the children’s toy, beauty, cosmetics, and personal-care space.

This individual will be responsible for developing strategic retail partnerships, driving sales and distribution, managing key accounts, and identifying new business opportunities. The ideal candidate understands how large retailers evaluate products, manage assortments, build seasonal programs, and make purchasing decisions.

The role requires a strong combination of relationship management, business development, sales strategy, retail knowledge, negotiation, and execution.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Account Management

Develop and maintain strong relationships with buyers, category managers, merchants, and senior retail decision-makers.
Manage existing medium and large retail accounts and serve as the primary point of contact.
Develop account-specific sales strategies designed to increase revenue, distribution, assortment, and market share.
Conduct regular business reviews and present sales performance, new product opportunities, forecasts, and growth plans.
Understand each retailer’s assortment strategy, pricing architecture, promotional calendar, and customer demographics.

New Business Development

Identify and pursue new retail opportunities across the toy, children’s beauty, cosmetics, personal-care, and specialty retail channels.
Build a pipeline of prospective retailers and convert opportunities into long-term accounts.
Lead the sales process from initial introduction through product presentation, negotiation, onboarding, and launch.
Develop compelling presentations and sales materials tailored to each retailer.

Sales & Revenue Growth

Establish and achieve annual and quarterly sales targets.
Develop sales forecasts and provide accurate projections to management.
Analyze account performance and identify opportunities for increased distribution, new SKUs, promotions, and seasonal programs.
Negotiate pricing, promotional programs, purchase commitments, margins, and other commercial terms.
Monitor competitive activity and provide feedback on market trends, pricing, products, and consumer demand.

Product & Retail Strategy

Work closely with Product Development, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to ensure products meet retailer and consumer needs.
Provide market intelligence and retailer feedback to help guide new product development.
Participate in trade shows, retailer meetings, line reviews, and industry events.
Help develop retail presentations, sell sheets, product assortments, and launch programs.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Coordinate with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are met from order through delivery.
Communicate retailer forecasts, launch dates, promotions, and inventory requirements internally.
Proactively resolve customer issues and ensure a high level of service.
Maintain accurate account information, sales forecasts, and opportunity pipelines.

Qualifications

5+ years of sales experience in toys, children’s products, beauty/cosmetics, personal care, consumer products, or a related category.
Proven experience selling to medium and large retailers, preferably national or regional chains.
Existing relationships with retail buyers and/or category managers is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to grow revenue and open new retail accounts.
Strong understanding of retail purchasing, merchandising, pricing, promotions, and product launches.
Excellent negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Strong analytical and forecasting abilities.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Ability to travel for retailer meetings, trade shows, and industry events as needed.

Preferred Experience

Experience working with retailers such as Target, Walmart, Amazon, Kohl’s, Macy’s, TJ Maxx/Marshalls, Five Below, specialty toy retailers, beauty retailers, department stores, or regional chains is a plus.

Experience with children’s cosmetics, beauty kits, pretend-play products, licensed products, toys, accessories, or giftable consumer products is especially valuable.

Key Performance Indicators

Success in this role will be measured by:

Revenue and gross-margin growth
New retail accounts opened
Expansion of existing accounts
New SKU and assortment placement
Retailer sell-through performance
Achievement of sales targets and forecasts
Strength and depth of retailer relationships
Successful product launches and seasonal programs

Ideal Candidate

You are an experienced sales professional with a strong creative and product development background — someone who knows how to find and exploit the “white space” on the sales floor.

You are a relationship builder, persistent, highly organized, and comfortable speaking with both buyers and senior executives. You understand that selling into major retail is not simply about taking orders, it is about building a compelling business case, negotiating effectively, executing flawlessly, and continually finding ways to grow the account.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on sales leader who wants to play a significant role in expanding a growing children’s toy and cosmetics business across major retail channels.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
