Medical Assistant (Front & Back Office)

Job Type: Full-Time (1st & 2nd Shift Availability)

About the Role

Sandy Plains Healthcare is a multi-specialty group providing care across Pediatrics, Child & Adult Psychiatry, and Child & Adult Counseling. We are seeking a dependable, flexible Medical Assistant who is confident rotating between clinical and administrative duties and supporting multiple specialties as needed.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well independently, and thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. You may be scheduled in the front or back office on any given day depending on patient and practice needs.

Responsibilities Clinical (Back Office)

Room patients and obtain vitals (pediatric and adult populations)
Document medical history and reason for visit
Assist providers during clinical visits and procedures (as applicable)
Prepare, clean, and sanitize exam rooms
Maintain clinical supplies and inventory
Perform tasks within MA scope (immunizations, testing, etc., as applicable)
Support providers with patient/family communication, referrals, prescription requests, and clinical documentation follow-up

Administrative (Front Office)

Greet patients and families and manage check-in/check-out
Answer phones and assist with scheduling and appointment flow
Verify insurance and collect co-pays
Coordinate follow-up care and referrals
Maintain an efficient, calm, and welcoming front desk environment

Float & Flexibility Expectations

Rotate between front and back office roles as needed
Step into whichever role is most needed during call-outs or high-volume days
Work independently, manage priorities, and problem-solve with minimal supervision
Collaborate closely with providers and leadership to ensure smooth daily operations

Qualifications

Medical Assistant experience required
Pediatric experience strongly preferred
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (preferred)
Comfortable working with both pediatric and adult patients
Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
Team player with a positive, professional attitude
Comfortable adapting to changing priorities
Bilingual candidates are a plus
