Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to take a senior role in the technical review, management, and delivery of structural engineering projects.

This is a full-time position with a consistent ongoing project workload. We are looking for a structural engineer who is ready to take on greater responsibility for project delivery, technical quality, team coordination, and client communication.

This is not a traditional project management role. The right candidate will have strong structural engineering experience and be comfortable reviewing calculations and drawings, guiding engineers and drafters, managing projects, and communicating directly with clients and project partners.

The individual hired will work closely with the company owner and have the opportunity to grow into a broader technical and leadership role within the firm.

Responsibilities

Lead structural engineering projects from design through completion.
Independently review and back-check structural calculations, drawings, details, and construction documents.
Provide technical guidance to engineers and drafting staff.
Review work for accuracy, code compliance, constructability, coordination, and completeness.
Manage project schedules, priorities, deliverables, and client communication.
Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
Review RFIs, submittals, revisions, and construction-related engineering issues.
Mentor engineering staff and help maintain consistent QA/QC standards.
Support improvements to engineering workflow and project delivery.

Qualifications

7+ years of professional structural engineering experience preferred.
Strong experience in structural building design and construction documents.
Ability to independently review structural calculations and complete drawing sets.
Experience with wood, steel, concrete, and masonry structural systems.
Strong understanding of load paths, lateral systems, foundations, connections, and structural detailing.
Experience managing structural engineering projects.
Experience reviewing or directing the work of engineers and drafters.
Strong client and consultant communication skills.
Knowledge of California building codes and structural requirements.
AutoCAD and/or Revit experience.
California P.E. preferred; California S.E. is a plus.

Compensation & Schedule

$70/hour
Full-time 40 hours per week
