Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our outpatient behavioral health practice. This role is ideal for a provider who is passionate about delivering high-quality psychiatric care to individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnose and treat mental health conditions, prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, administer medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including injectable medications such as Vivitrol, and develop individualized treatment plans. The provider will work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care and positive treatment outcomes.

As the primary medical provider for our outpatient treatment center, this position also serves as the Medical Director, providing medical oversight and guidance to support the delivery of safe, effective, and compliant behavioral health services.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications as clinically indicated.
Provide ongoing medication management and follow-up care.
Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA and payer requirements.
Evaluate clients for higher or lower levels of care and make appropriate referrals.
Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to support positive outcomes.
Respond to clinical communications and refill requests in a timely manner.
Participate in clinical team meetings (as needed).

Medical Director Responsibilities:

Provide clinical oversight and medical leadership for psychiatric services.
Maintain an unrestricted Maryland license, DEA registration, and controlled substance registration.
Collaborate with leadership to promote high-quality, patient-centered care.
Assist in developing and maintaining medical policies, procedures, and best practices.
Coordinate with operational leadership to ensure compliance with federal, state, payer, and accreditation standards.
Support credentialing, audits, and regulatory reviews when requested.

Position Details

Compensation: 60% fee-for-service (collections-based)
Flexible scheduling: Ability to create your own weekly schedule
Minimum commitment of 20 clinical hours per week
Hybrid options available

Qualifications:

Current Maryland licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
DEA registration and CDS license
Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric prescribing experience preferred
Experience treating adults with substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health
Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based treatment
Excellent communication, clinical decision-making, and documentation skills

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $400.00 - $1,500.00 per week

Expected hours: No less than 20.0 per week
