Full Job Description

Job Summary

Iron River Care Center is looking for a Ward Clerk to provide administrative and clinical support to our nursing team while helping ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of our resident care units.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with residents, nurses, physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals while using both their clinical and administrative skills. The ideal candidate is someone who is organized, resourceful, dependable, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities. You should enjoy working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Schedule resident appointments and coordinate necessary paperwork and transportation.
Ensure lab requisitions are completed according to resident orders and scheduled appropriately.
Review documentation and orders received when residents return from appointments.
Scan lab reports, imaging reports, and other documentation into the electronic medical record.
Develop and maintain the CNA staffing schedule, including managing schedule changes, call-ins, and coordinating coverage for open shifts to support appropriate staffing levels
Request and/or send medical records to/from outside healthcare providers as needed.
Maintain necessary forms and supplies for the nursing units.
Order supplies for the nursing department to ensure necessary items are available for resident care and daily operations.
Restock nursing department supplies and maintain organized, adequately stocked supply areas.
Assist with resident care as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Assist with resident admissions, discharges, in-house transfers, and emergency transfers.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

Current CENA/CNA certification in the State of Michigan
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency with computers and data entry.
Computer word-processing skills.
One year of experience with medical terminology, transcription, computer data entry, filing, sorting, and record keeping.
Minimum of one year of experience in the medical records field.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle protected health information appropriately.
Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to remain professional and composed in a busy healthcare environment.
