Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our pet care team. In this vital role, you will manage and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and supporting the organization’s financial health. Your expertise in various accounting software and systems will enable seamless processing of transactions, reconciliation, and reporting. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization committed to transparency, accuracy, and financial integrity.

This is a part time position requiring a minimum of 8 hours a month.

Duties

Record and process all financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online and Time To Pet software and ADP
Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations regularly to maintain accurate financial data.
Prepare journal entries, general ledger entries, and double-entry bookkeeping to ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Assist with payroll processing, including deductions, tax filings, and related reporting.
Support budgeting activities by tracking expenses against budgets and preparing financial reports, with some forecasting capabilities.
Maintain detailed records of all transactions, including invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation for audits or reviews.
Reconcile accounts on a monthly basis and prepare financial statements such as balance sheets and income statements.
Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial data.
Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, governmental accounting requirements, and tax regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Tax Filing prep, Quarterly reporting etc..

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role with strong knowledge of accounting principles such as GAAP.
Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks (especially QuickBooks Online), or similar systems; experience with financial software is essential.
Demonstrated ability in small business accounting, or governmental accounting environments is preferred.
Strong skills in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), account reconciliation, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and double-entry bookkeeping.
Familiarity with payroll processing procedures and tax experience is highly desirable
Knowledge of technical accounting concepts such as general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, debits & credits is required.
Ability to interpret financial concepts clearly and communicate findings effectively through financial report writing.
Experience working with multiple accounting systems
Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
