Full Job Description

Job Summary
The Accountant supports the financial accuracy, cost control, and operational performance of iwis-Daido LLC’s manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, standard cost maintenance, production variance analysis, fixed-asset support, and assigned general-ledger and month-end close activities. The role works closely with Finance, Production, Logistics, Purchasing, Quality, Maintenance, Industrial Engineering, and Project Management to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, traceable, and useful for business decisions.

Duties

Maintain and analyze standard costs for raw materials, purchased components, labor, overhead, routings, and bills of material in SAP.
Review manufacturing variances, including purchase price, material usage, scrap, labor, overhead, production volume, and inventory variances; investigate significant deviations and communicate findings.
Support the monthly financial close by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, accruals, and supporting documentation within established deadlines.
Reconcile raw material, work-in-process, finished goods, consignment, and inventory-related general-ledger accounts; identify and resolve discrepancies.
Partner with Operations and Industrial Engineering to validate production data, labor standards, machine rates, routings, scrap assumptions, and manufacturing cost drivers.
Prepare recurring plant-performance reports and explain actual results compared with budget, forecast, standard, and prior period.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and business-planning activities for manufacturing costs, capital expenditures, headcount, operating expenses, and inventory.
Maintain fixed-asset records and support capitalization, asset tagging, transfers, disposals, depreciation reviews, and capital-project tracking.
Provide financial analysis for cost-reduction projects, make-versus-buy decisions, customer and product profitability, capital requests, process changes, and new-product launches.
Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, tax, customs, or other accounting activities as assigned, while maintaining appropriate segregation of duties.
Support internal, external, customer, and regulatory audits by preparing accurate schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Maintain clear accounting procedures, work instructions, internal controls, and audit trails consistent with company and group requirements.
Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, close efficiency, cost visibility, inventory control, and use of SAP and related systems.
Protect confidential employee, customer, supplier, and financial information.
Maintain a safe and organized work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards
Perform additional duties as assigned that are reasonably related to the position

Qualifications and Competencies

Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory accounting, general-ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and financial controls.
Ability to connect manufacturing activity to financial results and explain variances clearly to both financial and operational personnel.
High level of accuracy, professional judgment, confidentiality, organization, and follow-through.
Ability to prioritize recurring deadlines while responding to operational issues and ad hoc analysis.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability using facts, system data, and root-cause analysis.

Technical Skills

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, structured formulas, data validation, and analysis of large datasets.
Proficiency with ERP-based general ledger, cost accounting, inventory, production, purchasing, and fixed-asset transactions.
Ability to develop reliable reports and reconciliations using repeatable, documented methods.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; experience with reporting or business-intelligence tools is beneficial.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

Required Experience

Two or more years of progressive accounting experience, including direct exposure to manufacturing, cost accounting, or inventory accounting.
Experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and audit support.
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and standard internal-control practices.

Preferred Experience

Five or more years of accounting experience in an automotive, discrete-manufacturing, or high-volume production environment.
Experience with SAP S/4HANA or a comparable manufacturing ERP system.
Experience with standard costing, bills of material, routings, work centers, production orders, inventory counts, and plant-level variance analysis.
CPA, CMA, MBA, or progress toward a relevant professional certification.
Experience working with international parent companies, intercompany transactions, or group-reporting requirements.
Exposure to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, or a comparable quality-management environment.
