Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will lead complex accounting functions, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and support financial reporting processes. Your expertise will help drive accurate financial analysis, streamline accounting operations, and mentor junior staff members to foster a collaborative and efficient work environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to organizational growth through technical excellence and strategic financial management.

Duties

Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
Manage general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining accurate records.
Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations to verify account accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Utilize financial software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, or similar platforms for data entry, reporting, and analysis.
Perform detailed financial analysis using Excel data analysis techniques like VLOOKUP functions, pivot tables, and spreadsheets to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for management review.
Mentor junior accountants by providing guidance on technical accounting issues such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and regulatory compliance accounting practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA certification is preferred.
Extensive experience in financial accounting within public accounting firms or corporate finance departments.
Strong knowledge of GAAP principles along with experience in technical accounting areas such as Tax law, Wills & Trusts law, or governmental accounting is a plus.
Proven expertise with financial software including QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel mastery required), and other financial management tools.
Demonstrated ability to perform complex account analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, cash flow analysis, and journal entries efficiently.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports accurately; proficiency in Excel data analysis is essential.
Strong attention to detail combined with effective communication skills; experience mentoring or training junior team members is highly desirable.
