About Us

Lazy Sister Chinese is a fast-paced Chinese restaurant in Norwalk, CT focused on strong food, clean execution, and consistent standards.

We are looking for a Kitchen Manager who can help bring structure, accountability, and consistency to the BOH. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a clipboard-only position.

The right person should be comfortable leading cooks, managing prep, holding standards, and jumping on the line when needed.

Position Summary

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for daily BOH operations, including prep organization, food safety, ordering, inventory, labor execution, training, and service readiness.

This person will work closely with the Culinary Director, GM, and ownership to build better systems, improve consistency, and keep the kitchen running clean, organized, and on-standard.

Responsibilities

Lead daily BOH operations and support the team during service
Manage prep lists, pars, station setup, and daily production
Hold cooks accountable to recipes, portions, plating, and execution standards
Maintain strong food safety, sanitation, storage, labeling, and cooling standards
Manage ordering, receiving, inventory, and vendor organization
Help control food cost through proper prep, storage, waste control, and portioning
Support labor management through smart scheduling and efficient station planning
Train cooks on station expectations, prep standards, closing standards, and service execution
Conduct line checks before service
Ensure walk-ins, dry storage, prep areas, and line stations stay clean and organized
Communicate clearly with FOH, management, and ownership
Identify issues early and help solve them before they become daily disasters
Support opening/closing procedures and overall kitchen accountability

Requirements

3+ years of BOH leadership experience preferred
Experience as a Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, Lead Line Cook, or similar role
Strong line experience in a fast-paced restaurant
Experience with Chinese, Asian, wok, noodle, dumpling, or high-volume scratch cooking is a plus
Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation
Comfortable managing prep, ordering, inventory, and kitchen organization
Able to lead, coach, and hold people accountable
Must be reliable, organized, and calm under pressure
Must be available nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
ServSafe certification preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Compensation

$70,000–$80,000 per year, based on experience
