Hiring: Full-Time Construction Bookkeeper

Company: RI3 Electric Services Inc.
Location: Orange County, CA
Position: Full-Time Construction Bookkeeper

About Us

RI3 Electric Services Inc. is a growing commercial electrical contractor serving grocery stores, retail centers, commercial buildings, and tenant improvement projects throughout Southern California. We are looking for an experienced Construction Bookkeeper who is organized, detail-oriented, and proactive to oversee the company's day-to-day financial operations.

Primary ResponsibilitiesBookkeeping & Accounting

Manage all bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online
Record and categorize daily financial transactions
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan accounts
Maintain an accurate general ledger
Prepare monthly financial statements
Monitor cash flow and prepare financial reports for management
Maintain organized digital and physical financial records

Accounts Payable

Enter vendor invoices accurately
Verify purchase orders and receipts
Schedule and process vendor payments
Track subcontractor invoices
Collect and maintain W-9s
Verify Certificates of Insurance (COIs) before payment
Maintain vendor files

Accounts Receivable

Create customer invoices
Submit progress billing and AIA billing when required
Track retention
Follow up on outstanding invoices
Apply customer payments
Maintain aging reports
Communicate with customers regarding payment status

Construction Accounting

Track job costs by project
Allocate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
Monitor project budgets
Track change orders
Track purchase orders
Assist with project cost reporting
Monitor profitability by project
Assist project managers with financial reporting

Payroll

Assist with payroll processing
Maintain employee payroll records
Process employee reimbursements
Prepare certified payroll reports when required
Track prevailing wage documentation when applicable

Compliance

Prepare sales tax reports
Maintain contractor compliance documentation
Assist with year-end reporting
Work directly with the company's CPA
Maintain audit-ready financial records
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience
Minimum 2 years of construction bookkeeping experience preferred
Strong QuickBooks Online experience required
Experience with construction accounting
Strong understanding of job costing
Experience with AIA billing and progress billing preferred
Knowledge of retention, lien waivers, and subcontractor compliance
Excellent organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Excellent communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
Self-motivated and dependable
