Senior Paid Media Specialist – DTC/eCommerce

Google Ads | Meta Ads | TikTok Ads | GA4 | GTM | GMC | Shopify

Location: El Monte, CA
Job Type: Full-time, On-site
Compensation: $35-$39 Per Hour

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Paid Media Specialist to independently own and optimize paid advertising campaigns for our eCommerce and DTC clients.

This is NOT a general marketing, social media, content marketing, or brand marketing position.

This role is specifically focused on paid media strategy, campaign execution, performance optimization, traffic acquisition, and conversion tracking across Google Ads, Meta Ads, and TikTok Ads.

The ideal candidate can take ownership of an account with minimal training: evaluate the client's goals, determine the appropriate channel and budget allocation, build and manage campaigns, identify the creative assets needed to support performance, monitor results, troubleshoot tracking issues, and continuously optimize toward higher-quality traffic and stronger conversion performance.

What You'll OwnPaid Media Strategy & Budget Allocation

Develop paid media strategies based on client goals, products, target audiences, and performance objectives.
Determine how advertising budgets should be allocated across Google Ads, Meta Ads, and TikTok Ads.
Continuously evaluate channel performance and reallocate budget based on data and opportunity.
Focus on acquiring qualified, high-intent traffic, not simply increasing traffic volume.

Campaign Planning & Execution

Independently build, launch, manage, and monitor paid advertising campaigns.
Determine appropriate:
Campaign objectives
Advertising formats
Target audiences
Campaign structures
Budget allocation
Testing strategies
Manage campaigns from initial planning through execution and ongoing optimization.

Performance Optimization

Develop a clear optimization plan for each account and campaign.
Analyze performance data and identify where improvements should be made across campaigns, audiences, creatives, placements, budgets, and conversion paths.
Allow campaigns sufficient time and data to mature when appropriate, then conduct structured optimization rather than making reactive changes without sufficient evidence.
Monitor key performance indicators such as ROAS, CPA, CPC, CTR, CPM, CVR, revenue, traffic quality, and conversion volume.
Clearly explain what is being changed, why it is being changed, and what result is expected from the change.

Creative Strategy Support

Identify the creative assets needed to support paid media performance.
Determine whether campaigns require video, static images, UGC-style creative, product-focused assets, or other formats based on channel and campaign objectives.
Provide clear, actionable creative direction and briefs to our internal Art Director and Video Editor.
Use campaign performance data to identify creative fatigue, testing opportunities, and new creative needs.

(You are not expected to personally design or edit creative assets. You are expected to know what creative the campaign needs and why.)

Tracking, Analytics & eCommerce Infrastructure

Monitor and validate conversion tracking across paid media platforms.
Use GA4 and Google Tag Manager to evaluate traffic and conversion behavior.
Work confidently with Shopify tracking and eCommerce conversion data.
Manage or troubleshoot Google Merchant Center as it relates to Google Shopping and paid media performance.
Identify potential tracking discrepancies before making performance decisions based on inaccurate data.

Required Experience

Candidates must have hands-on professional experience with ALL of the following:

Google Ads
Meta Ads
TikTok Ads
Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Google Merchant Center (GMC)
Google Tag Manager (GTM)
Shopify tracking / eCommerce conversion tracking

****These are required skills, not preferred qualifications.****

You should also have:

Proven hands-on experience managing paid media for DTC and/or eCommerce businesses.
Experience independently managing and optimizing paid advertising accounts.
Experience making channel allocation and budget allocation decisions, rather than only executing strategies created by someone else.
Strong understanding of conversion-focused and performance-driven advertising.
Ability to diagnose performance issues using campaign, website, analytics, and tracking data.
Experience communicating paid media performance and recommendations clearly to internal teams and/or clients.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong ownership and accountability for campaign performance.

Strong Plus

Amazon Ads experience
Agency experience managing multiple client accounts
Experience scaling DTC/eCommerce brands
Experience with Google Shopping
Experience troubleshooting complex attribution or tracking issues
Experience developing creative testing strategies based on paid media performance

What We're Looking For

We are specifically looking for someone who is already experienced enough to take ownership of paid media accounts and contribute immediately.

You may be a strong fit if you can confidently answer questions such as:

How do you decide how much budget should go to Google, Meta, and TikTok?
How do you determine whether poor campaign performance is caused by targeting, creative, bidding, landing-page conversion, or tracking?
How do you build an optimization plan after a campaign has accumulated sufficient data?
How do you use GA4, GTM, Shopify, and platform data together to validate performance?
How do you determine what new creative assets should be requested from a creative team?
How do you distinguish high-quality traffic from traffic that generates clicks but does not convert?

This Role Is Probably Not a Fit If

Your background is primarily in social media management, organic content, branding, PR, influencer marketing, email marketing, or general marketing coordination.
You have only assisted with paid advertising but have not independently managed accounts.
You primarily work on one advertising platform and have limited hands-on experience with the others.
You have managed campaign execution but have not been responsible for strategy or budget allocation.
You rely on another team member to handle GA4, GTM, GMC, or Shopify tracking.
Your paid media experience is primarily focused on awareness or engagement rather than measurable traffic and conversion performance.
