Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Groundskeeper to maintain a private residential property. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with strong knowledge of landscaping maintenance, lawn care, irrigation systems, and plant health, who takes pride in maintaining beautiful, healthy, and meticulously maintained grounds.

This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently, proactively identify maintenance needs, and consistently maintain the property to the highest standards.

Position Details

Full-time, live-out position
Typical schedule: Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (schedule may vary seasonally)
Flexibility to work occasional weekends or additional hours as needed
Competitive salary based on experience

Responsibilities

Perform weekly landscape and grounds maintenance.
Mow, edge, trim, and maintain lawns to a high standard.
Monitor and maintain overall lawn health, including fertilization, overseeding, aeration, weed control, and pest management.
Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the property’s irrigation system.
Plant, prune, mulch, weed, and maintain flower beds, gardens, shrubs, hedges, ornamental trees, and seasonal plantings.
Maintain the health of all trees, shrubs, and woody ornamentals through routine pruning, watering, fertilization, pest and disease management, inspections, and preventative care. Maintain shrubs and trees within the scope of safe operation and assess larger or specialty trees for health and structural needs.
Coordinate certified arborists for large or hazardous tree work, ensuring quality standards are met.
Apply seasonal landscape treatments.
Perform seasonal landscape maintenance, including spring clean-up, fall leaf removal, winterization, and seasonal property openings and closings.
Identify and address plant health issues, pests, diseases, and irrigation concerns before they become significant problems.
Maintain walkways, patios, driveways, outdoor living areas, and landscape beds in pristine condition.
Operate, maintain, and care for landscape equipment and tools.
Recommend improvements and communicate regularly with the property owner regarding maintenance needs and long-term property care.
Coordinate with outside specialists only when highly specialized services are required.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of professional groundskeeping or landscape maintenance experience.
Strong knowledge of lawn care, horticulture, irrigation systems, plant health, pruning, fertilization, and seasonal landscape maintenance.
Experience maintaining shrubs and trees, including identifying disease, pests, nutrient issues, and structural problems.
Experience operating and maintaining commercial landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and related tools.
Ability to diagnose and perform irrigation system repairs.
Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Exceptional attention to detail and pride in maintaining a high-end residential property.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

Pesticide Applicator License is a strong plus.
Irrigation Certification is highly desirable.
Experience maintaining private residential or estate properties.
Knowledge of integrated pest management and ornamental plant care.

Salary

$100,000–$120,000 annually, depending on experience and certifications.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
