ABOUT HL7N

We are a residential treatment center for youth with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, offering outpatient behavioral health and on-site medical services. Located on 55 peaceful acres, we provide a safe, supportive environment grounded in traditional, cultural, and spiritual values. Our holistic program blends Indigenous teachings with evidence-based practices to support healing, growth, and resilience in both Native and non-Native youth, fostering respect, honesty, generosity, and cultural identity.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing attractive, nutritional meals and snacks for the food service program provided to residents under a residential treatment program, staff and guests; maintains kitchen areas, storage areas, and food service equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fosters a safe and positive work environment, following all safety/cleaning/sanitizing procedures in alignment with organization customer service and safety standards.

Follow all food safety guidelines, reporting any concerns tosupervisorordesigneeimmediately.
Attends andparticipatesin all required staff meetings/trainingsdeemednecessary by the Kitchen Supervisor, PSSD Director, and/or HL7N toaccomplishorganizationalobjectivesof the position and for professional development.
Ensure hourly/daily/weekly/monthly checklists are completed in support of overall kitchen operations (i.e.cleaning, stocking,maintainingkitchen preparation space, and processing of food products).
Performadditionalduties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must meet the minimum educational and experience requirements for the position and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant applications.

Minimum one-year relatedexperience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to follow recipes inan accurateandtimelymanner, meeting production deadlines.
Operation of kitchen equipment, cooking utensils in a food service facilityrequired.
Must have knowledge of regulations and procedures used in food preparation, serving and storage.
Mustmaintaincurrent WA State Food Handlers Permit

PREFERRED:

2+yearskitchen production experience and/or training in the culinary arts.
Excellent understanding of food preparation fundamentals.
Sound understanding of food allergies and foodborne illnesses.
Experience with menu planning and creative food preparation techniques.
Proficient knife-handling skills.
Experience and/or training working with at-risk adolescents in a therapeutic environment and/or residential treatment or other institutional type environment.
Experience working with and/or knowledge of Native American communities, history, and culture preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic mathematical skills, ability to work independently, and excellent interpersonal skills preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMAND
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The employee will experience frequent reaching, walking and standing on quarry tile floors, lifting, stooping, or carrying of equipment and materials may be required. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and fumes. Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; bend stoop or kneel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be available to work flexible hours and weekends.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work may be performed in fluctuating temperatures, including heat from cooking and cleaning equipment and cold from walk-in storage and freezers. Work is performed in kitchen environment using equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, slicers, mixers, knives, etc. the noise level in the work environment is moderate.

For full-time employees (30+ hours per week), HL7N provides a comprehensive benefits package designed to promote health, well-being, and financial stability. These benefits reflect our commitment to supporting and valuing our team members.

100% medical, dental and vision insurance premium is paid by HL7N first of the month after60 daysof employment.
Up to $6,000 health reimbursement annually via Navia Debit Card for eligible medical, dental, and vision expenses.
$75,000 life insurance policy and disability benefits, 100%employer-paidafter 90 days (FT EE).
22 daysof paid time off (PTO) annually, plus 12 paid holidays and up to 8 sick days per year (after90 dayprobationary period). Employees are eligible for a Wellness Week after one year of employment.
Employees are eligible for a 403(b) Retirement Plan with up to a 6% employer contribution after 12 months of employment, contingent upon working at least1,000 hours.
HL7N qualifies for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
