Full Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the Production Supervisor is to supervise processes and procedures within the production department. In specific, the operations and activities related to steel shop fabrication, production, scheduling. In addition, supervise the maintenance of records, quantities and destinations of materials received or improved. The Production Supervisor is responsible for maintaining good morale, ensuring that safety, Quality and production policies and procedures are adhered to. Responsible for maximizing profits by maintaining an efficient and productive operation. The position is responsible to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner as well as overall personnel supervision as it relates to training and development of employees.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

· 2- 4 years’ in structural steel shop fabrication · Detail-oriented, highly organized, self-directed and capable of interacting and communicating with all levels within the organization. · Demonstrated and proven leadership skills and ability to motivate teams. · Strong problem solving/troubleshooting experience. · Excellent communication, listening and problem-solving skills · Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. · Good leadership skills and should be able to work in a team environment · Must be able to follow deadlines and work under pressure
· High School or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Ability to translate policies into daily routine operations.

· ERP/MRP experience: EPICOR preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUREMENTS

· College Degree highly preferred.

· Must have a High School Diploma, GED or at least 2-4 years of equivalent experience in the field and related work area

· Proficiency using Microsoft Office software.

· Understanding of Lean concepts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Oversee the entire workings throughout the production department · Ensures the product being manufactured meets the company’s standards, policies and practices · Confer with the Production and Plant Manager to ensure that manufacturing objectives are being met · Supervise the work of the whole staff working for within the Production department
· Manage employee’s attendance

· Assist with employee evaluations

· Create a continuous improvement environment, teamwork, and a dedication to execute the right things the first time.

· Interact with employees and assist customers in response to their concerns, questions, or complaints.

· Recommends new equipment, methods and facilities to Management Team
· Meets production objectives by forecasting job requirements and potential barriers. · Establishes priorities, controls processes and resolves issues to maintain efficiency. · Effectively plan the use of personnel, production machinery and other resources. · Assures compliance with corporate regulations pertaining to Human Resources and Safety. · Works to improve production processes and procedures.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

Individual must have thorough knowledge and an advanced understanding of each competency outlined above in order to carry out the essential functions of this position. Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: AWS structural and seismic codes, ACSE, and AISC standards and codes; production/material specifications related to the fabrication and erection of structural steel.

· General knowledge of fabrication standards and procedures.

· General knowledge of AISC standards and AWS codes.

· Ability to read and interpret shop and design drawings.

· Ability to manage large multiple commercial and industrial projects and meet stringent deadlines.

· Ability to work effectively with all departments and other divisions.

· General understanding and knowledge of basic drafting skills, 3D modeling, fabrication standards, standard technical terminology, common structural steel practices, and drafting room procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Offices in the Manufacturing Plant, 100% (in Shop)

2. This position requires walking, sitting or standing to a significant degree and lifting up to 100 pounds

3. During the course of work, the incumbent will be subject to seasonal weather conditions

4. No travel is required for this position

5. Employee must wear proper attire at all times (i.e., steel toe shoes, hard hat, etc.)

6. This position is not eligible for relocation benefits
