Full Job Description

Payroll Clerk

Location: Bay Area, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time

We are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience processing payroll, maintaining accurate employee records, and handling payroll-related questions and administrative tasks.

This position is well suited for someone who is organized, trustworthy, comfortable working with confidential information, and able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time.
Review and verify employee timecards, hours worked, overtime, PTO, and other payroll adjustments.
Enter and maintain employee payroll information and records.
Process new hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, and other employee updates.
Verify payroll calculations and resolve discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
Assist employees with payroll, paycheck, timekeeping, and deduction questions.
Coordinate with management and HR regarding payroll changes and employee information.
Assist with payroll tax filings, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll-related requirements.
Prepare payroll reports and summaries for management and accounting.
Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reconciliation.
Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Assist with audits and provide payroll documentation when requested.
Perform other accounting and administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications

2+ years of payroll or accounting experience preferred.
Strong understanding of payroll processing and timekeeping.
Experience with payroll software and HR/payroll systems.
Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with employee and company information.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve problems independently.
Knowledge of California payroll laws and requirements is strongly preferred.
Experience working with hourly employees, overtime, PTO, and multiple pay rates is a plus.
Experience with TriNet or similar payroll/HR platforms is a plus.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, is required.

Compensation: Competitive and based on experience and qualifications.

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
