Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our specialized Electrophysiology (EP) Lab team for a dynamic assignment in Sarasota,. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert nursing care in a high-tech cardiac electrophysiology environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in acute care settings, including hospital and ICU environments, with a strong background in cardiac procedures and patient assessment. As a Travel RN-EP Lab, you will deliver exceptional patient care during complex electrophysiology procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes. This position is designed for motivated professionals eager to expand their expertise while contributing to innovative cardiac care.

Responsibilities

Assist with and monitor electrophysiology procedures such as catheterizations, ablations, and device implantations within the EP lab.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments prior to procedures, including vital signs, medical history review, and physiological evaluations.
Administer medications safely, including IV infusions and botulinum toxin treatments when applicable.
Maintain sterile technique and aseptic procedures during invasive interventions to prevent infections.
Manage patient airway and ventilator support during procedures requiring sedation or anesthesia.
Document all patient interactions, procedural details, and clinical observations accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and lab technicians to ensure seamless procedural workflows.
Provide post-procedure care including wound management, catheter care, and patient education on recovery protocols.
Demonstrate proficiency with advanced medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, and laboratory diagnostic tools.
Support triage activities by assessing urgent patient needs in the outpatient or inpatient setting.
Engage in infection control practices aligned with hospital standards and NCQA guidelines.
Assist with complex cases involving ICD coding, CPT coding for procedures, and documentation compliance.

Experience

Proven experience as an RN in acute care environments such as hospitals or critical care units with exposure to cardiac catheterization labs or electrophysiology procedures.
Demonstrated proficiency in managing patients requiring advanced cardiac interventions including pacemaker or ICD device management.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation and medical records management.
Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is preferred.
Knowledge of infectious disease protocols, aseptic techniques, and infection control standards.
Background in handling patients with complex needs such as those requiring dialysis, ventilator support, or intensive pain management.
Prior involvement in emergency medicine scenarios including airway management and acute pain control.
Skilled in performing venipuncture, IV insertions, suturing, phlebotomy, and specimen collection/processing.
Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities is advantageous.
Certification requirements include Basic Life Support (BLS) at minimum; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
