Full Job Description

Castro Law Offices, P.C. is a well-established family law firm based in Novato, California, dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate some of life's most challenging transitions. We are seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our team.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and compassionate. This position requires substantial family law experience and the ability to independently manage a wide range of case-related responsibilities while providing exceptional support to attorneys and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and draft family law pleadings and legal documents, including Judicial Council forms, declarations, motions, briefs, subpoenas, deposition notices, trial documents, and correspondence.
Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including case management, discovery, hearing preparation, settlement conferences, and trial preparation.
Draft and respond to discovery requests, evaluate the sufficiency of discovery responses, prepare meet and confer correspondence, and assist with motions to compel.
Prepare Preliminary and Final Declarations of Disclosure, Income and Expense Declarations, and supporting financial documentation.
Maintain and organize client files, ensuring all deadlines, hearings, and court dates are properly calendared and tracked.
Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and third parties regarding case-related matters.
Assist with hearing and trial preparation by organizing exhibits, witness lists, trial binders, and supporting documentation.
Conduct legal research and gather information necessary to support case strategy and trial preparation.
Communicate with clients regularly regarding case status while providing professional, empathetic, and responsive support.
Assist with general administrative and case management duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of family law paralegal experience.
Strong working knowledge of California family law, including divorce, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, property division, domestic violence restraining orders, and post-judgment matters.
Experience drafting declarations, points and authorities, settlement conference statements, and other substantive legal documents.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Professional, client-focused, and compassionate demeanor.
Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
