Job Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Coder and Biller, where your expertise will be vital in ensuring accurate medical documentation, coding, and billing processes. In this role, you will interpret clinical documentation to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures, facilitating seamless reimbursement from insurance providers and optimizing revenue cycle management. Your attention to detail and thorough understanding of medical terminology and coding systems will directly impact the efficiency and accuracy of our healthcare operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care while honing your skills in medical billing, coding, and health insurance processes.

Responsibilities

Review and analyze medical records, clinical documentation, and provider notes to assign precise ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes for inpatient and outpatient services.
Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, health insurance policies, and regulatory standards to facilitate accurate billing and reimbursement.
Prepare and submit electronic claims using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) or EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems for timely processing by third-party payers.
Manage the entire revenue cycle process by performing medical billing, follow-up on unpaid claims, and conducting medical collections when necessary.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or incomplete records to improve coding accuracy.
Maintain detailed records of coding activities, billing transactions, and insurance communications for audit readiness.
Stay current with updates in ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, CPT coding changes, and health insurance regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical office settings with a strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation practices.
Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems with demonstrated ability to manage electronic health record (EHR) management for billing and coding purposes.
In-depth knowledge of coding systems including ICD-10/ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases), CPT coding for procedures, DRG classifications, and coding for inpatient services.
Familiarity with health insurance policies, third-party billing processes, revenue cycle management, and medical collections.
Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail to ensure precise code assignment and billing accuracy.
Ability to interpret complex clinical documentation accurately while adhering to regulatory guidelines.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal teams.
