Full Job Description

Position Summary

Younan Properties is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee full-cycle, accrual-based accounting for a portfolio of Class A commercial office buildings and corporate entities. This role is responsible for the integrity of the general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and supervision of accounting processes. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep Yardi Voyager expertise, strong CRE accounting fundamentals, and advanced Excel skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Own full-cycle accrual-based accounting for an assigned portfolio of commercial office properties and corporate entities, including GL maintenance, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications.
Manage and execute month-end and year-end close processes within strict deadlines, including bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis against budget and prior period.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement packages (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and supporting schedules) for ownership, lenders, and investors.
Oversee CAM reconciliations, recovery billings, tenant ledger accuracy, and percentage rent calculations in coordination with property management and lease administration.
Review and approve AP coding, AR application, tenant billings, and recurring charges in Yardi Voyager 7; ensure proper GL mapping and lease setup.
Manage cash, including funding requests, intercompany transfers, lender reporting, and reserve account activity.
Supervise, train, and review the work of staff accountants and AP/AR personnel; allocate workload, set deadlines, and develop the team.
Coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers; prepare year-end audit schedules, 1099 filings, and property tax workpapers.
Support annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting in partnership with property managers and asset management.
Assist with construction draws, TI tracking, and capital project accounting, including capitalization vs. expense determinations.
Identify and implement process improvements, internal controls, and Yardi workflow enhancements.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 3 years in commercial real estate (office, mixed-use, or retail).
Yardi Voyager experience is mandatory — must be proficient in GL, AP, AR, CAM, and financial reporting modules. Voyager 7S preferred.
Strong command of accrual-basis accounting and GAAP as applied to CRE.
Advanced Excel skills — pivot tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, financial modeling, large-data manipulation.
Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, or managing accounting staff.
Working knowledge of CAM reconciliations, lease abstracting, and standard CRE lease structures (NNN, modified gross, full service).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; able to manage multiple deadlines without compromising accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a multi-entity owner/operator environment.
Familiarity with Yardi Construction Management, Procure to Pay, and/or Elevate modules.
Experience working with institutional investors, JV partners, or lender reporting requirements.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
