Billing Coordinator (Data Entry)

Location: Fully Remote or Hybrid

Reports to: RCM Manager

Job Summary

The Billing Coordinator is responsible for performing and coordinating front-end revenue cycle activities to ensure accurate and timely billing of claims to payers and patients. This position focuses on validating demographic, insurance, and charge data; resolving pre-billing errors; and supporting compliance with payer and organizational billing requirements. The Billing Coordinator plays a key role in reducing claim rejections and denials by ensuring data integrity and process accuracy prior to claim submission.

Key Responsibilities:

Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accuracy prior to claim creation.
Validate coverage eligibility and benefits using payer portals or clearinghouse tools.
Review and correct hospital charge and demographic errors by using hospital portals to determine required information.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve missing or incorrect information impacting claims.
Work special projects as needed to assist with areas requiring special focus.
Identify and correct front-end claim errors.
Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and all payer-specific billing requirements.
Ensure adherence to organizational revenue cycle policies and procedures.
Participate in process improvement efforts related to front-end error and data entry workflows.
Serve as back-up for answering patient and client billing inquiries.
Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle operations, preferably in a laboratory or medical practice setting.
Experience with billing software (Telcor preferred).
Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding preferred.

Skills:

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Knowledge of payer billing requirements and eligibility processes.
Familiarity with Microsoft products and virtual meeting software (e.g., Microsoft Teams).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Timeliness and accuracy of insurance and demographic verification
Compliance with internal billing and documentation policies and SOPs.
Effective communication with team members and laboratory departments.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
