Full Job Description

Description:

Position Summary

We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to lead the HR function for our growing manufacturing company. This is a newly established role and an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to create structure, improve processes, and help modernize the organization while preserving our family-owned culture and values.

The Human Resources Generalist will support all areas of human resources, including recruiting, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, performance management, and training. A key focus of this role will be reviewing long-held practices, developing standard operating procedures, implementing consistent processes, and creating a strong HR foundation that supports future business growth.

The successful candidate will be a confident, hands-on leader who can influence change, establish accountability, and serve as a trusted advisor to employees, managers, and ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Leadership & Process Improvement

Lead the company's HR function.
Review, update, and improve existing HR processes and practices.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Create organized and compliant employee recordkeeping and filing systems.
Recommend and lead initiatives that improve efficiency, consistency, and accountability across the organization.
Partner with leadership to support business goals and workforce planning.

Recruiting & Employee Development

Manage recruiting, hiring, and onboarding activities.
Develop programs to support employee engagement, retention, and development.
Assist supervisors with performance management and employee coaching.
Identify training and leadership development opportunities.

Employee Relations, Accountability, & Compliance

Serve as the primary resource for employee relations matters.
Investigate and resolve workplace concerns professionally and fairly.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Maintain and update employee policies, procedures, and handbook content.
Oversee leave administration, workers' compensation, and related HR programs.
Coach and advise managers on employee and leadership issues.
Promote accountability and consistency throughout the organization.

Support payroll processes and employee data management.
Maintain accurate HR records and reporting.
Monitor HR practices to ensure consistency and legal compliance.

Compensation:

$70,000 - $85,000 annual salary - commensurate with experience.

Requirements:

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in manufacturing.
Experience creating or improving business processes and procedures.
Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and drive change within the organization.
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a strongly preferred.
