Full Job Description

About the Role

The Office Manager runs the dairy's office end to end: payables, receivables, payroll and HR, inventory and receiving records, and day-to-day cash handling. You'll also support the monthly accounting close and lender reporting — but you don't need to be a technical accountant. The ownership group handles the GAAP side and will back you up on anything technical.

If you've run an office before, you know most of this job: working with partners, reconciling invoices, keeping receiving and inventory straight, and keeping payroll and L&I on track. That office know-how is exactly what we're looking for — solid basic bookkeeping is all the accounting this role requires.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee all office functions for the dairy
Process accounts payable, including receiving and matching against orders
Manage accounts receivable, including working with the milk cooperative, reconciling milk checks, and recording calf sales
Handle day-to-day cash management and cash reconciliations (first line of defense on cash)
Run payroll with support from a third-party payroll provider
Administer HR functions: employee benefits, Washington L&I reporting, and onboarding of new employees
Maintain inventory and receiving records for feed, supplies, and other inputs
Support the monthly close and borrowing base preparation, working with ownership partners
Help maintain asset schedules for book and insurance purposes
Manage office and accounting software, with support from a third-party provider

Qualifications

Experience running or working in the office of a dairy, farm, feedlot, or other agricultural operation is strongly preferred
Solid basic bookkeeping skills — AP, AR, and payroll; you do not need to be a degreed accountant
Familiarity with milk co-op payments/settlements and milk check reconciliation is a big plus
Experience administering HR basics (benefits, onboarding); Washington L&I familiarity is a plus
Strong organization and follow-through; comfortable being the go-to person for the office
Comfortable with accounting software and Excel; able to learn new systems with third-party support
Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a related field is a plus, but not required

About Milk Stream Dairy

Milk Stream Dairy is a newly formed company taking over an established, operating commercial dairy farm in the Pasco/Mabton, Washington area. We are setting up our office from the ground up, and this role will be the hub of it. You'll have significant responsibility — and plenty of guidance and support from an experienced ownership group, including partner-level financial oversight.
