Safety Coordinator

Location: Troy, MO (On-Site)

Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to join our team. You will help promote a culture by supporting daily safety and compliance operations, coordinating driver training, maintaining regulatory records, and assisting with accident investigations. The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety standards while helping protect our drivers, customers, and business.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Support day-to-day transportation safety and compliance activities.
Monitor and maintain transportation safety and compliance software, including data entry, tracking, and reporting.
Assist with compliance activities related to DOT, FMCSA, fuel tax, vehicle licensing, and applicable state and federal transportation regulations.
Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate new hire safety orientation and ongoing safety training for drivers and frontline employees.
Promote and reinforce the company's safety culture throughout the organization.
Assist with driver qualification file management and compliance documentation.
Support investigations of accidents, incidents, near misses, and work-related injuries by gathering documentation, communicating with drivers, and coordinating follow-up actions.
Prepare and maintain accident reports, insurance documentation, and regulatory records.
Track corrective actions and assist with implementing safety improvements.
Maintain accurate safety files and records for audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
Prepare routine safety reports, compliance metrics, and trend analyses for management.
Respond to safety questions from drivers and employees while reinforcing company policies and procedures.
Assist with internal and external safety audits and inspections.
Perform other safety and compliance duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or coursework in Safety, Transportation, Business, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation safety, compliance, or trucking operations preferred.
Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
Experience with transportation safety or compliance management software is preferred.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, operations personnel, and management.
Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
