Overview

The Dental Clinic Manager is responsible for the operational oversight and growth of the dental clinic. This role ensures the clinic operates efficiently while supporting high-quality patient care, strong staff performance, and alignment with the organization’s mission. The Dental Clinic Manager supervises dental clinic staff, ensures appropriate staffing levels, supports provider workflows, monitors patient access and scheduling, and leads operational improvements that strengthen clinic performance and patient experience.

Working closely with dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, front office staff, and administrative leadership, the Dental Clinic Manager helps maintain a collaborative and high-functioning clinical environment while supporting the strategic development of dental services.

Duties

Supervise dental clinic staff including dental assistants, hygienists, and front office personnel, providing training, support, coaching, feedback, and performance management.
Approve invoices and dental clinic staff timecards.
Assess staffing levels and ensure the clinic is appropriately staffed to support patient access, provider schedules, and operational efficiency.
Manage staff scheduling and coordinate staffing coverage to support clinic operations and patient demand.
Collaborate with Human Resources on recruitment efforts, including serving as the hiring manager in reviewing candidates and assessing talent throughout the interview and selection process.
Support Human Resources with onboarding and development of dental clinic staff.
Foster a positive, collaborative clinic culture that promotes accountability, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
Monitor clinic workflow and patient access, identifying opportunities to improve scheduling efficiency, patient throughput, and service delivery.
Monitor clinic performance metrics and patient volume trends to support operational improvements and clinic growth.
Lead regular staff meetings and support ongoing communication across clinical and administrative teams.
Address operational challenges raised by providers, staff, or patients and implement solutions to improve clinic operations and patient experience.
Partner with organizational leadership to support growth of dental services and execute the growth goals.
Ensure clinic operations comply with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
Support coordination with community partners and internal departments to strengthen dental services and patient access.
Participate in operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives related to dental services.
Perform related duties as required, including assuming full or partial responsibility for major projects and initiatives designed to support the Center’s mission.

Skills/Knowledge

Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with patients and families, members of the community, dentists, dental staff, collaborating partners, and hospital staff.
Ability to read, speak, write and understand English.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to plan functions.
Ability to perform basic math for budgeting purposes as described above in core responsibilities.
Ability to provide leadership.
Ability to problem solve.
Ability to read, speak, write and understand Spanish preferred.

Experience/Education

Dental Assistant Certification required (or at least 10 years of work experience).
A minimum of two years prior clinical/dental patient care experience; clinic managerial and/or supervisory experience required.
FQHC management experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

Current Driver's License in the State of Wisconsin.
CPR/AED certification required.
