Welcome to KEYS Service Corps AmeriCorps Program!

At KEYS Service Corps AmeriCorps, we offer a transformative paid service commitment that goes beyond just a job. As a member of our team, you'll gain invaluable experience, knowledge, and connections that will open new doors in Pittsburgh's nonprofit, human services, and education fields.

Our mission is to partner with public schools, charter schools, nonprofits, and afterschool programs, ensuring that students receive the support they need to thrive. Working side by side with teachers and school personnel, our AmeriCorps members make a lasting impact in classrooms, creating a nurturing and empowering environment for youth.

For those serving in nonprofits, you'll get to witness firsthand how these organizations operate while supporting young minds through academic and enrichment activities. It's a unique opportunity to grow personally and professionally while uplifting the future generation of Allegheny County.

Requirements:

You must be at least 19 years old.
Previous experience working with children is preferred.
Successful completion of a series of clearances.

Term of Service:

Full-time commitment: 40 hours per week 1700 hours total
September 9, 2026 - August 15, 2026
Half-time commitment: 22 hours per week 900 hours total
September 6, 2026 - July 25, 2026

Benefits:

Stipend: Earn $1,200 every two weeks, $28,800 total before taxes (1700 hours - full time) or $660 every two weeks, $15,180 before taxes (900 hours - half-time).
Education Award: Receive $7,395 for 1700 hours and $3,697 for 900 hours to be used for qualified higher education expenses or to pay back qualified student loans.
Forbearance: Federally-backed student loans can be placed into forbearance during your term of service.
Payment of Interest: The program covers all or part of the interest on student loans placed in forbearance, provided the term of service is successfully completed.
Monthly Bus Pass
Health Insurance: Full-time members receive health insurance at no cost.
Child Care Subsidy: Full-time members who meet certain criteria can access child care subsidies.
SNAP Benefits: The AmeriCorps stipend does not count as income for SNAP benefits, making most members eligible for the full allowable SNAP benefit. AmeriCorps membership fulfills the work/training requirement for SNAP eligibility, and benefits are based on household income (excluding the stipend) and family size.
Professional Development: Engage in paid monthly professional development and networking opportunities throughout your term.

As a KEYS Service Corps AmeriCorps member, you'll dedicate your energy to creating a brighter future for youth in Allegheny County. Working directly with school-age children, you'll help them achieve their academic potential through school and after-school programs. Collaborating closely with school staff, you'll guide students in completing their homework and classwork, and empower them through service projects that enrich their community.

We're looking for dynamic individuals who can connect with kids on their level while serving as professional and inspirational role models.
